The BetRivers TAKE A CHANCE CUP will be an opportunity for the top players in Southern Ontario and beyond to take part in an event like they've never played in before. Check out the format and rules below as you'll need to be prepared to strategize and take chances!
Music on the 1st tee and as players approach the final hole ... and a guaranteed sudden death playoff will certainly make this a tournament to remember!
The BetRivers TAKE A CHANCE CUP is open to the first 36 teams of two players and is open to everyone ... PROS | AMATEURS | MEN | WOMEN.

Why worry about daylight to play the guaranteed sudden death playoff ... when you can wait until DARK to start it?
Using LED tower lighting, we're going to light up the 9th hole! We'll play it repeatedly until we find a winner!! Add in a DJ and a gallery taking it all in ... and there are only two words for it:
EPIC. FINSH.
FORMAT, RULES & OTHER FEATURES
This is different ... for sure. But you are going to love this format.
Follow along:
NEW FOR 2025 -->> We will be moving to a Two Person Team combined score.
You'll play golf exactly the same as any other event you've played in, however this format uses a modified Stableford scoring system (details below) and will be played as a scratch event (no handicaps). Be prepared to think ... strategy is the name of the game!
The event is 9 Holes only with 2 pins on each green. Yup ... TWO! One pin located in an 'easy' pin location and the other tucked into tight spots.
Prior to your tee shot on exactly 2 of the first 8 holes, each player needs to announce to your playing partners that they are going to TAKE A CHANCE, meaning you are going to play to the more difficult pin. Each player must do this twice, meaning your team will do it 4 times, but CANNOT Take a Chance on the same hole. When you do, you will double your points on that hole if you score a Birdie or better.
When you arrive at the final hole, we switch things up a bit. The final hole will be played as ALTERNATE SHOT and will be scored the same as a TAKE A CHANCE hole. Birdie or better you will receive double points, however if you score a bogey or worse, you lose 3 points!
It's tough to beat the excitement of a sudden death playoff ... so we're going to make sure we have one! Once darkness sets in, the top 2 scores + ties will head to the 9th tee for a sudden death alternate shot finish.
Modified Stableford scoring will be as follows:
- STANDARD Points:
- 1 Point - Bogey
- 2 Points - Par
- 3 Points - Birdie
- 4 Points - Eagle
- 5 Points - Albatross
- FINAL HOLE Bogey = -3 Points
- TAKE A CHANCE Points:
- 2 Points - Par
- 6 Points - Birdie
- 8 Points - Eagle
- 10 Points - Albatross
- FINAL HOLE Bogey = -3 Points
Men will play from the GOLD tees and Ladies will play from the WHITE tees. To have some fun with things, we'll play with the yardage on a couple holes to make a drivable Par 4 and perhaps a real short Par 3 ... but the pins might be nasty so you'll need to think if you should TAKE A CHANCE or not!
We will play holes 10 through 18 for the full field event and move to the 9th hole under the lights for the playoff.
There's no doubt that this format will make you think, while providing one of the most fun tournaments you'll play in this year.

Tee times will be between 3:00pm - 6:00pm.
