This is different ... for sure. But you are going to love this format.
Follow along:
You'll play golf exactly the same as any other event you've played in, however this format uses a modified Stableford scoring system (details below) and will be played as a scratch event (no handicaps). Be prepared to think ... strategy is the name of the game!
The event is 9 Holes only with 2 pins on each green. Yup ... TWO! One pin located in an 'easy' pin location and the other tucked into tight spots.
Prior to your tee shot on exactly 3 of the first 8 holes you need to announce to your playing partners that you are going to TAKE A CHANCE, meaning you are going to play to the more difficult pin. When you do, you will double your points on that hole if you score a Birdie or better.
When you arrive at the 9th and final hole, you have an option to TAKE A CHANCE for the 4th time. Be careful though ... if you TAKE A CHANCE on the final hole and score a bogey or worse, you lose 3 points!
It's tough to beat the excitement of a sudden death playoff ... so we're going to make sure we have one! The top 2 scores + ties will head back to the 9th tee for a sudden death finish. Would you TAKE A CHANCE or play more conservative to gain points and the win??? We will play the 9th hole consecutively to find a winner, until we are about to lose daylight, at which point we'll move to a one-shot closest to the pin from 100 yards (hopefully that doesn't happen though).
Modified Stableford scoring will be as follows:
Men will play from the GOLD tees and Ladies will play from the WHITE tees. To have some fun with things, we'll play with the yardage on a couple holes to make a drivable Par 4 and perhaps a real short Par 3 ... but the pins might be nasty so you'll need to think if you should TAKE A CHANCE or not!
There's no doubt that this format will make you think, while providing one of the most fun tournaments you'll play in this year.
Music on the course? Hell ya!
You'll be welcomed to the 1st tee with some great
tunes to set the tone for a super cool competitive event!
Because this is a 9 hole event we don't need to start too early.
Tee times will be between 3:30pm - 6:00pm.
No need to beg the boss for the day off!
You'll roll up to the 9th green in front of the clubhouse with a gallery and DJ to keep things fresh. Hors D'oeuvres will be passed around and the bar will be open (the drinks are on you though).
Top 2 scores + ties will go head to head in a sudden death playoff
on the 9th hole. Would you TAKE A CHANCE or play safe?
Grab a beverage and catch the action (unless you're in the playoff)!
